Vibe Check January 2021

Vibe Check January 2021

Welcome to this year's first Vibe Check! This is a segment that we wanted to expand further from the newsletter’s ‘’What’s Up With Us’’. Just like before, we will be talking about our experiences from the past month with some more in-depth insights about what inspired us!

Wesley:

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a metroidvania heavily inspired by Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. The goal of the game is to destroy a demonic castle. This is done by collecting 'shards' that give you necessary special powers, which allow you to progress further into the structure and defeat the bosses.

Wesley: "Really fun game! I 100%-ed this game within three weeks of getting it, though there are still some extra modes to try out. Definitely made me want to play Castlevania: Symphony of the Night!"

Quentin:

Death Stranding is a game about connecting people. You play as Sam Porter Bridges, a porter (freelance delivery person). Your job is to reconnect the United Cities of America by visiting different shelters all across the nation and hooking them up to the network. Your journey won't be easy, because you will have plenty of cargo to haul across treacherous terrain, to the different shelters. And beware, life and death may be more closely related than you think...

Quentin: "Aside from having amazing gameplay, the cutscenes are incredibly beautiful. It's almost as if watching a high-budget animated film. This is definitely a game you should try out if you really like immersive storytelling!"

James & Fragmantiq:

After a long hiatus (since 2017!), Porter Robinson is finally back with a new album called 'Nurture'. While originally the plan was to have a single released every two months, the pandemic caused some delays. Last week, Porter released the fourth single from the album called Look At The Sky, after being teased last May. - The album is scheduled to release on April 23rd.

James: “Porter has had a lot of impact on me. I've been listening all the way since Spitfire (2011). It may sound a little weird, but I feel like his music really reflects back on my life. I don't feel a personal connection like this with anything else. Thank you, Porter.”

Fragmantiq: “For me this song is incredibly special. I really feel a personal bond with this song, because I feel like my life this past year is almost reflected in its lyrics.”

Thanks for reading! Hopefully we inspired you to check out something new. Stay tuned for next month's issue!
