3 Psychological anime to make you think!

3 Psychological anime to make you think!

To stay in the theme of creepy things, how about some psychological shows that might unnerve you?
I asked some of the kaomoji office workers their recommendations, so now you know they're good!
Now, let's proceed and see what psychological anime we have in store!

Serial Experiments Lain

Recommended by Quentin:

Lain Iwakura, an awkward and introverted fourteen year old girl, receives just like a whole lot more girls at her school, a very disturbing email.

The email comes from Chisa Yomoda, the very same Chisa who committed suicide very recently.
Lain, however, has no interest in technology, let alone the internet.
But out of curiosity, she opens the email and gets pulled straight into the WIRED.
A virtual world of communication networks similar to what we know as the internet.

Lain's life gets turned upside down as she begins to encounter very cryptid mysteries one after another.
Strange men seem to follow her wherever she goes, even knowing more about her than she knows about herself.

Boundaries between reality and cyberspace are rapidly blurring.
The series follows Lain as she makes crucial choices that will affect both the real world and the Wired.

Classroom of the Elite

Recommended by Alice:

Looking at it from the outside, Koudo Ikusei Senior High School looks like a utopia. The students have an unparalleled amount of freedom, the school is highly ranked in Japan, what else could you wish for?
The reality of the school, however, is less than ideal.
The school system is divided into four classes, ranked A to D. Only the top classes receive the more favorable treatment.

Enter our main protagonist, Kiyotaka Ayanokouji, a student in class D, where the school dumps the worst.
There he meets Suzune Horikita, who is not social at all. She believes she was placed in Class D by mistake, so she desires to get all the way to Class A. Class D also contains Kikyou Kushida, the class idol whose goal is to make as many friends as possible.

While class membership is permanent, class rankings are not. Students in lower ranked classes can rise in rankings if they score better than those in the top ones. Additionally, in Class D, there are no bars on what methods can be used to get ahead. In this school, can they fight against the odds and reach the top?

Danganronpa The Animation

Recommended by Lish:

Our main character, Makoto Naegi, is a teenager with no remarkable talent. Even though he’s talentless, he’s still accepted into a prestigious school called Hope’s Peak Academy. A school where the most talented teenagers from different fields gather.
Despite thinking he got accepted to the school by accident, he still accepts and is delighted about it. The best part about the school is that it ensures success to those who graduate.
Determined about the outcome, he enters the school.

However, after immediately losing consciousness after stepping inside, Naegi wakes up in an empty classroom. Failing to understand what has happened, he goes to explore the school. To his surprise, he finds all of his classmates assembled in the school’s gym.
While everyone tries to understand what happened to them, they are confronted by the school’s principal. A black and white robotic bear that looks like a stuffed animal, called Monokuma.
This mysterious bear explains that the new students are trapped inside the school with only one way out, to successfully kill a classmate without anyone finding out it was you.

Tension arises between the students while they realize there are only two options.
Either participating in the killing game or being stuck at the school for the rest of their lives.

Monster, Shiki and argueably Death Note are also some great Psychologicals to check out!

Stino

Devil Man Crybaby is an anime like no other. Though the subject matter is very grotesque, it is the entire story of Akira and Ryo which make for a very strange and unnerving end to the story.
