3 Anime Picks For Spring 2021

It's May, which means we're now 2/3rds of the way through spring! Like usual, this season brought a bunch of new anime alongside it. For this blog we've picked three anime that stood out to us!

Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro

Chances are you've seen this one around on the internet! This is one of those anime you'll either love or hate. The anime is about the otaku upperclassman Naoto and the year-younger girl Nagatoro who teases Naoto at every chance she gets, going to various lengths to humiliate him. Is it teasing for the sake of teasing or is there more behind her actions? 'Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro' started airing in April 2021 and is scheduled to run for 12 episodes.

Wonder Egg Priority

Going from playful teasing to serious bullying and what it can cause: Wonder Egg Priority is a show about the 14-year old Ai Ohto, a girl whose only friend Koito has committed suicide because of bullying. One night, while going on a walk, Ai stumbles upon a gachapon that contains 'Wonder Eggs'. She soon finds out the meaning of these eggs: In her dream world the eggs contain people, who she has to protect from monsters. She learns that protecting enough people will lead to her best friend being brought back to life. Can she bring her best friend back?

Horimiya

A romcom anime like you haven't seen before. The head stars are the popular girl Hori and the meek otaku Miyamura. At least, that's what they're like at school. Outside of school Hori has her hands full as a housekeeper, while taking care of her younger cousin. Meanwhile, Miyamura is a laid-back guy who isn't afraid of showing off his tattoos and piercings. On a chance meeting, the two agree to keep each other's secrets, which would become the start of their future relationship. The two main characters aren't the show's only focus. There's a whole cast of fleshed out side characters as well. These include the ditzy but reclusive Yuki, the cool but occasionally jealous Tooru, and the student council vice-president Sakura with low self-confidence issues that she slowly overcomes.

Conclusion

There were a lot of interesting anime this season, but these are our picks! Got any recommendations you'd like to share? Let us know in the comments! We'll see you next time for more recommendations!
